What is English Paper Piecing?

English Paper Piecing, or lovingly known as EPP, is a traditional form of quilting all sewn by hand.

Wikipedia says: "English paper piecing is a method of patchwork where fabric is wrapped around shapes (templates) made of thin paper cardboard or heavy paper. Once the shapes are wrapped and ready, the sewer will hand sew the shapes together one at a time until the shapes become an intricate design."

During this workshop, Master Quilter, Judy Paiva, will talk about choosing fabrics, "fussy cutting", the best needle and thread choices, paper template uses, different basting methods and techniques in hand sewing. All supplies will be provided to create one unique block of the "Patchwork of the Crosses" pattern by Lucy Boston.

Students should come ready to relax for a few hours of "slow sewing". Don't forget to bring your coffee or tea and your glasses!
